Im playing it when I get home from work.
Was it as short as episode one?
Im really starting to dislike Valve, I dont want a game that you can never finosh. A game that releases a new 'episode' every two years or so. I thought the HL2 ending was 'wtf' so I was really looking forward to ep:one, and ep:one had a 'wtf' ending as well. I want to finish Half life, not play a***** teaser every 24 months.
Stupid valve
/rant off

That's like not liking a TV series beacuse after episode one, it's not all done and dusted. Or a film might be part of a trilogy.
Only ITS NOT a tv series, and ITS NOT a film thats a part of a triology. Its...a....game.

But that doesn't mean it can't have a long story to tell, and then tell it in parts.
I assume you'd prefer a game that took 20 years to make and was 20 hours long instead right?
Nah man. I'd prefer a game thats made and lets me complete it. Valve is milking the cow with this episode rubbish. There is NO logical reason to why they couldnt make the game in lets say 2 parts.

I used to like you, Death Kill. I really did. But that is the most moronic thing I've ever heard anyone say.
What's different between a Book and a Film? One's textual, and one's visual / audible. What's different between a Film and a TV Show? One's a whole lot longer than another, and the latter usually tells a series of short stories into one large story. What's different between a Film and a Video Game (such as episode 2)? One's not interactive, the other one is.
the difference is, that a book or a movie wont leave you hanging. Episode one was just a few hours long.... thats rubbish.
Valve is milking the cow.

There is no difference in the way that they all have a story, a plot, characters. The difference is the way the stories are conveyed to the audience. So don't be going 'ITS A GAME SO IT CANT TELL A STORY OR BE INSIGHTFUL ETC ETC!1!11!'. You sound worse than that ******** guy who has a vendetta against video games.
Oh poppycock. You are just an acne infected 16 year old. Comeback when you hit puberty.

Originally by: lofty29 Again; not all books come in single installments. Hl2 ended on a cliff-hangar after explaining what happened in City17. It was the start of the story, with a sub-story contained. Episode 1 detailed your escape from City17, and the destruction of the citadel. Two sub-stories while furthering the main story. Episode 2 detailed your closure of the Super-Portal and travel to White Forest, while furthering the main story and providing you information about the G-Man.
The episodes are quite short, but they're very very well made and explain A LOT of the story. If they weren't there, how do you suggest valve includes all the information we have learned in them into Half-Life 3, hmm? It would be one hell of a task.
And your comment about leaving you hanging - that's a good thing. It makes you want more, and shows that valve actually have good writers.
Don't know much about media products, do you DK?
Actually I do my dear lofty loft. I do.
valve has taken a certain freedom no other company has ever done before, and I fear they will start a new trend where you cant complete a game no, you are forced to wait 2 years+ in order to see the light in the tunnel.
Good writers? system shock and Deus EX are prefectly good examples that you can create something legendary without ******* your fanbase. systemshock>HL2

Ah no that wouldnt work. But I would rather see HL, HL2 and HL3 instead of Hl HL2, episode one, two, three. Episode one and two was so short they could be 40-50% of a full game.
Long games are great, if they are quality. Deus Ex appeared to be an unlimited source of fun when I first played it.

Edited by: Death Kill on 14/10/2007 09:01:58 Have to say Im dissapointed.
The visuals are lovely but thats not ewnough to save it. The combine firefights are boring, the hunters are not challenging, the driving around with the car is just a copy of HL2 and not very exighting.
Storywise its dull, go do this, go do that.....seen it all before. Havent completed it yet, but so far is a mere 6/10.
edit : And Gmans monitor on his ofice desk.....either they dont have flatscreens in the future or hes using a really old MAC.

Perhaps the STALKER A.I has made me spoiled, but the HL2 A.I is virtually non existent.
